NOTICE: The OFARC September meeting will be September 24th, at 9:00 am, at TranStar.
The next OAK FOREST AMATEUR RADIO CLUB meeting will be held on Sep 24th, 2022.  We'll meet face-to-face in the TranStar conference room and on Zoom.  A Zoom invitation will be sent out to members 2 or 3 days before in the usual way.  If you can, make plans to have breakfast before the meeting at The Toasted Yolk (Heights location), 4601 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007 at 7:30AM.  Don't forget to catch up on annual club dues, if you've not done so already.  You can send checks or cash to the club mailing address (see the Club Membership link above) or pay up at your next face-to-face meeting.

Announcements

  • Our last meeting was held on Aug 27th face-to-face as planned.  Ralph (KE5HDF) hosted the meeting along with ~12 others in attendance,  Zoom not working.  Dom (N5TCB) proposed we *not* participate in Dickens on the Strand as originally planned.  Reasons for this decision: not enough club interest (need at least 4 people), security risks, too far to travel for elderly members, we are a Houston club and should focus on the Houston area.  Dom also passed around a useful shack addition - the audio mixer.  His is the Mix8; more information can be found here.  Martin Denning (W5XUK) gave us a facinating presentation about the history of his WW2 tank transciever.  The slide deck he presented can be found on the downloads page.  Topics/presentaions planned for the Sept. meeeting are Radiograms and JOTA (here is a preview). The youTube recording of the August meeting can be found here.
  • Contact Mark if you are interested in License exam testing.  Also, see the "Exam Sessions" link above for more information.
  • If you have a photo of your ham shack or favorite operating location, please send it on and I'll post them for all our members see... and comment!!  Please include your callsign in the photo.  Images submitted so far can be found here!
  • If you'd like to be added to our email reflector and share in the dialog between club members and local area hams, send me a request.
