NOTICE: The OFARC February meeting will be February 26th, at 9:00 am, Zoom only.
The next OAK FOREST AMATEUR RADIO CLUB meeting will be held on Feb. 26th, 2022.  As of now, this meeting will be Zoom attendance only but stayed tuned for updates.  A Zoom invitation will be sent out to members 2 or 3 days before in the usual way. If you can, make plans to have breakfast before the meeting at The Toasted Yolk (Heights location), 4601 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007 at 7:45AM.  Don't forget to catch up on annual club dues, if you've not done so already.  You can send checks or cash to the club mailing address (see the Club Membership link above) or pay up at the next face-to-face meeting.


Announcements

  • Our last meeting was held on January, 22nd via Zoom as planned.  Stephen (W2WF) hosted the meeting along with 17 others in attendance.  The primary topic of our the meeting was Ralph's (KE5HDF) home brew portable antenna made from tent poles.  Barry (KG5IRR) described his homebrew arduino/VFO project and replayed a 2018 FDIM presentation by Dr. Jack Purdum on Homebrewing.  Ralph and Barry's presentations can be found at the "Downloads" link above.  In addition, Stephen shared a videos comparing audio performance of the Xiegu G90 and ICOM 7300 and a presentation about his goal to learn CW, leveraging help from the Long Island CW club.  All is available for you to watch on our youTube channel here
  • Stephen, Dom and Ralph are planning to do POTA on Winter Field Day at Stephen F. Austin State Park (1/29/22) at 12:00.  Directions are on our Events page.
  • Myles Barkman (KG5AI) has provided an update of his local area nets schedule and has done the painstaking work to include web links for more information on most all the entries.  The link to the spreadsheet and pdf are located under "Quick Links" on the right side of this webpage.
  • Since meeting places are uncertain at this time, contact Mark if you are interested in License exam testing.  Also, see the "Exam Sessions" link above for more information.
  • If you have a photo of your ham shack or favorite operating location, please send it on and I'll post them for all our members see... and comment!!  Please include your callsign in the photo.  Images submitted so far can be found here!
